Commentary on Gunjali Mirajkar Accident in Frisco

Police seem to think the main factor in this wreck was the victim's failure to yield to thru-traffic. I don't have any specific reason to doubt that, but at the same time I've learned over the years to take preliminary reports with a grain or two of salt. It's certainly possible the driver just misjudged her turn, but what if there's more to the story?

For instance, reports also said the victim felt the Land Rover may have been speeding when it hit her Lexus. I can't say whether that's true or not, but it seems like police just ignored her suggestion and blamed just the failure to yield. That doesn't seem entirely fair if so, and I can't help but wonder what else might have been overlooked or left out.

If there's any lingering doubt or confusion about what happened in a crash--and there often is--I tend to recommend an independent investigation rather than relying too heavily on police to sort everything out. Professionals with the time, training, and tools to connect any remaining dots can often make a clearer picture, which is always helpful for the people affected.
