Commentary on Melissa Castillo, Crystaline Bendo Accident in Rialto

It sounds from reports like an ill-timed passing move may be largely to blame for the fatal damage done in this crash. Some may feel there's little else to say beyond that, but as always I'd suggest patience and caution in case there's actually more to the story. It's important to confirm that police interpreted the preliminary details right.

For instance: What if the victim wasn't trying to pass but instead just lost control and swerved into the other lane? What if she had a sudden medical emergency? Could her car have malfunctioned or blown a tire? Was her view of the other lane blocked by the truck? Were all the vehicles' lights on? Is that area illuminated at night? What were road and weather conditions like in the area? Was the dividing line clearly marked?

The point of exploring all the potential factors isn't to complicate things; the straightforward explanation in early reports may be correct. It's just important to keep an open mind and ensure that the final story is based solely on nothing but facts and evidence. At the very least that ensures there's no dispute or confusion over what happened, but sometimes it also uncovers other issues that must be addressed. As always the main priority is just to learn the truth. Anything else would depend on what that truth is.
