Commentary on Terry Darland Motorcycle Accident in Celeste

A common problem I've dealt with throughout my career concerns motorcycle wrecks like this one. Put simply, folks are quick to blame the motorcyclist before they know any of the facts. Unfortunately, police are no exception.

While some are prudent enough to let the evidence speak for itself, many officers will let their "gut" tell the story, assuming the motorcyclist was speeding, weaving through traffic, being reckless, so on and so on. I know from experience that many riders are safe, and that's why they deserve as much benefit of the doubt as anyone else.

Simply leaving things in the hands of authorities alone may only prove to put more barriers between the victim and the help they deserve. Are steps being taken here to make sure the facts are telling the victim's side of the story?
