Woman Injured in Hit-and-run Truck Accident on Lankershim Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles, CA -- September 28, 2022, a woman was injured in the Sun Valley area after a truck accident from which the truck fled the scene.

Investigations said that the incident happened at around 3:10 a.m. at the intersection of Lankershim Boulevard and Kewen Avenue.

According to officials, a 47-year-old woman was in the intersection, though it's unclear if she was on foot or driving. While crossing, a "large red dump truck" turned from Lankershim to Kewen, hitting the woman. The truck then left the scene.

The woman was taken from the scene with injuries described as severe. No further information is available at this time.

Commentary on Truck Hit-and-run Accident on Lankershim in Los Angeles

What authorities are doing here is typically the best approach to a hit-and-run. Regardless of whether or not the driver intentionally fled, they need to answer for what happened--even if this all was just an honest mistake.

Publishing surveillance images of the truck, describing it, mentioning the time and area of the incident--these are all things which can help members of the public connect the dots and come forward. Someone may realize, "Hey, my co-worker was driving a truck like that around that time," or, "Hey isn't that so-and-so's truck?" Once that happens, steps can be taken to look into why the accident occurred, why the driver left, and whether or not there needs to be consequences. I remain hopeful these efforts will see some resolution to this situation.
