Commentary on Dana Snokhous Car Accident in Williamson County

Just to be clear up front, I'm not here to besmirch the victim's name or to upset anyone. I don't know if any of the details here are true or false, but I have seen countless incidents with similar details, and there are important things folks should know. Primarily, with as high a BAC as the one listed above, there is serious concern that a local business may be responsible for contributing to this woman's death. Without the right experience, authorities may not even be looking into that possibility.

Put simply, Texas has what's called dram shop law. It says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Not only is three times the legal limit well beyond the range most people are obviously intoxicated, it's often at a point where people black out.

Any business serving someone to that point simply does not care about their safety or the safety of others. It's why dram shop is an important tool for victims and families to hold those businesses accountable. Not only should they face consequences and clean up their act, but getting them to help the victims is also an important step forward.

So while I can't say what did or didn't happen here, I can say from experience just how important it is to conduct thorough investigations. If authorities never bothered looking into the events preceding this awful, steps may be necessary to ensure this woman's loved ones are getting the whole story.
