Commentary on Hingham Truck Accident on Broad Cove Road

Reports suggest the man who lost his life crossed left of center and triggered this crash, but as always I'd say it's best for careful and thorough investigation--and the clear facts it uncovers--to tell the story. Taking preliminary reports as the final word on the matter means ignoring how incomplete they typically are.

For instance, even if the eastbound driver crossed over the line there's still no explanation of why--and that's clearly critical to find out. A wreck caused by momentary driver distraction might look the same as one caused by a sudden and catastrophic mechanical failure in the car, for example, but how the law views those could be very different. That's why it's crucial to find objective evidence of what really happened.

Of course, getting that evidence and using it to help the people affected may not be as simple as waiting for a police report. Authorities are only looking for broken laws, not necessarily for the facts to help victims and families build a case or get back on their feet. That's why I often recommend enlisting the help of independent experts to find the truth. Armed with the facts those professionals uncover, accident victims and their loved ones stand a better chance of getting the answers and help they deserve.
