Two Injured in Car Accident on Kitty Hawk Road in Universal City, TX

Universal City, TX -- April 9, 2022, two were injured due to an accident where two cars collided along Kitty Hawk Road.

Emergency services got calls at approximately 11:57 p.m. on Kitty Hawk Road near the intersection of Universal City Boulevard. It appears that a 20-year-old Converse man was in a Kia Sorento traveling out of a nearby gas station. The vehicle may have gone the wrong way into oncoming traffic where it crashed with a Mercedes-Benz driven by a 55-year-old Schertz man.

Due to the collision, a passenger in the Schertz man's vehicle had incapacitating injuries. The Converse man's injuries were said to be non-incapacitating. At this time, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

Commentary on Car Accident on Kitty Hawk Road in Universal City

Details available here make me wonder if authorities are considering all the facts here. Something unique about head-on collisions which authorities tend to overlook is the angle of the impact. When the vehicles crash at a bit of an angle, it can actually be more dangerous--that is unless you're in a more modern vehicle equipped to handle those impacts.

Some manufacturers found out simple ways of installing parts which help deflect the force of the impact, better protecting the vehicle occupants. Other manufacturers, however, fail to make these changes. Despite the technology being reasonably available, they'd simply rather not trouble themselves. That's why I tell folks that bringing that sort of issue to light could help hold those manufacturers responsible for serious injuries they could have prevented. I'm not saying whether or not that happened here, of course. It's a possibility, but it's just one of many things a proper investigation should cover.
