Commentary on Haley Rhea Dodd Car Accident in Terrell

It's not my place to sit around speculating about who or what is responsible for this crash. Instead, I do my best to shed light on unusual details folks may not catch without 30 years of experience with serious car wrecks.

Haley Rhea Dodd Injured in Car Accident in Terrell, TX

What stands out to me is that the point of impact apparently was on the victim's passenger side. They supposedly had significant injuries, but the passenger, who was closest to the impact, was somehow unharmed--at least according to currently available information. Why is that so odd?

While often attributable to things like a lack of seatbelt or plain old bad luck, this disparity of injuries is also sometimes a sign that a safety feature may not have worked. Seatbelts, airbags, weak roofs, seat assemblies--these are all things which can fail and have failed in the past. Is that something authorities considered here, or would more thorough independent investigations reveal that there's more to this situation?
