Pedestrian Killed in Car Accident on Highway 281 in San Antonio, TX

San Antonio, TX -- September 29, 2022, one person was killed following an accident where a vehicle struck them along Highway 281.

Officials said that the incident happened at around 6:00 a.m. along southbound lanes of the highway in the area of Sunset Road.

Investigators say a pedestrian "ran across the highway" when a vehicle struck them. EMS arrived some time later, and the pedestrian was declared deceased. No further information is available at this time.

Folks don't often give this sort of thing much attention because they just see a pedestrian where they shouldn't have been, and they figure all the blame is on them. Frankly, that's often true. But someone lost their life, and it's important to make sure all the facts are clear. Sometimes, there can be unusual circumstances that need to be addressed.

For example, I had a family come to me a while back about a similar incident. Once we dug into things, we found out that man had been drinking with friends prior to the incident. The establishment recklessly and illegally over-served the man to the point he got lost on his way home and wandered into traffic. What some likely wrote off as some idiot in the road was a man killed in part due to a business breaking the law. That business was liable for their involvement under dram shop law.

I'm not saying anything like that happened here, but making sure all the facts come to light is crucial in situations like this.
