Commentary on Camila Sofia Vieyra Car Accident in Houston

Something to keep in mind with crashes like this is that the cause of the crash isn't always the only factor to consider. Police often overlook anything that isn't speed, cell phone usage, alcohol, and right-of-way. As a result, important details can slip through the cracks.

Take for instance a crash I looked into a while back where a woman allegedly ran a red light, and a semi t-boned here. Weeks later, more thorough investigations showed the 18-wheeler had been going about 20 MPH over the speed limit. Would that excuse someone for running a light? No, but that difference in speed could make an otherwise moderate crash turn deadly.

I'm not saying anything like that happened here, but it's important folks understand why independent investigations are often so crucial. Without them, there's no telling what important information could slip through the cracks.
