Doye Miller Injured in Motorcycle Accident on TX-121 in Trenton

Trenton, TX — September 27, 2022, 51-year-old Doye Miller was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on State Highway 121 in Trenton.

Authorities say the incident happened Tuesday night on Highway 121 by U.S. Highway 69. Preliminary investigation suggests Miller was riding south on US-69 when he made a U-turn onto TX-121, possibly headed toward The Rock Yard bar and restaurant nearby. While turning or just after, Miller's motorcycle was hit by another vehicle on Highway 121.

Miller, reportedly wearing a helmet, was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation continues. No further information is available at this time.

Commentary on Doye Miller Accident in Trenton

There's not a lot of information yet about exactly how or why this accident happened. Reports only say the victim was hit while U-turning but can't cite any particular reason for it. Was the bike hard to see at night? How well-lit is that highway interchange? Was the victim's turn legal? Was the other driver paying attention? Were both vehicles' headlights on? If not, why not? Were their operators awake, alert, and paying attention to their surroundings? Could any external factors like road conditions, bad weather, or other traffic have influenced what happened?

I'm not trying to overcomplicate things or argue with police findings; my concern is really more that there aren't any police findings to speak of so far. Further attention may find or confirm a simple enough explanation for what happened on the highway, but a man was seriously injured in this crash and I think that's more than enough reason to find the whole story. Will law enforcement get to the bottom of things, or should someone else take another look and fill in the blanks police leave behind?
