Commentary on John Roger Ortiz, Rogelio Espinoza Motorcycle Accident in Coleman

It stood out to me in some reports that there are "social media rumors" that the driver of the Nissan had been texting and driving. It shouldn't be a shock to anyone that I take that with a mountain of salt. Is distracted driving common in these scenarios? Absolutely. But even authorities take a while to come to a conclusion because it's always best to wait for all the facts.

Folks like to have someone to blame, but at the end of the day, the evidence needs to speak for itself. If someone is responsible for the victims' deaths, their families need as much clear evidence as possible to make sure there are appropriate consequences. While waiting for the authorities can certainly be prudent, a situation this serious is generally better off in the hands of more experienced independent investigators.
