Eduardo Flores Jr. Injured in Auto Accident on TX-183 in Irving
Irving, TX -- July 31, 2022, 23-year-old Eduardo Flores Jr. was seriously injured in a crash with a suspected drunk driver on State Highway 183 in Irving.
Authorities say the incident happened around 12:40 a.m. on Highway 183 near Harvard Road. Preliminary investigation suggests Flores was driving a Chevrolet S10 pickup west on the highway in the right lane when a Chevy Malibu approached from behind at a high rate of speed and rear-ended the pickup. The impact caused the truck to spin off the road into the median and overturn. The Malibu also caught fire after the collision.
Flores suffered serious injuries in the crash. The Malibu driver was reportedly unhurt and was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. Officers collected blood samples for testing.

Commentary on Eduardo Flores Jr. Accident in Irving
If blood tests confirm alcohol was involved here as police think, some may think that just means the alleged drunk driver will be charged accordingly. Of course that part's important, since people willing to put themselves and others at risk that way should face serious consequences.
Having said that, it stands to reason that anyone else responsible for the accident should also face repercussions. People tend to come down hard on drunk drivers, and rightly so, but what about the bars and other businesses that get them that way? Texas dram shop law holds alcohol providers that over-serve their customers liable for injuries they cause or suffer while under the influence.
Anyone hurt in one of these accidents, whether they're a crash victim or a grieving family who lost someone to a drunk driver, deserves whatever assistance they can get with the difficult road ahead. A dram shop claim against a negligent bar is one way to get that help, and it also makes sure the offending business faces consequences for the damage its negligent and illegal behavior helped cause.
Unfortunately, despite how important it is to keep bad bars from putting people at risk police don't spend much time on dram violations. If a bar or other vendor may have contributed to the Irving crash then it may be better to seek proof of that independently with the right allies' help.
