Commentary on Timothy Burton Truck Accident in Smith County

Folks are quick to see a rear-end collision like this and call things open-and-shut. In reality, things can be rather complex depending on the circumstances. A lot of times, this sort of thing really is just an example of someone not paying attention to the road or falling asleep at the wheel. Sometimes, however, there are extenuating circumstances.

One that gets little attention is why the truck was on the shoulder and whether or not the truck driver stopped and followed the law. If not, that can put drivers in serious danger, and that's something that should be addressed when possible. I'm not saying that happened here, of course, but it's something to consider if folks are going to get the answers and the help they deserve.
