Commentary on Crossover Truck Accident on I-70 near Greenfield

Reports seem to paint a pretty clear picture of one driver crossing left of center and triggering this crash, but as always I'd say it's best for careful and thorough investigation--and the clear facts that uncovers--to tell the whole story. Taking preliminary reports as the gospel truth of the matter means ignoring how incomplete they usually are.

For instance, even if the westbound driver crossed over that still doesn't explain why. A wreck caused by momentary carelessness might look the same as one caused by a sudden and catastrophic mechanical failure in the truck, but the consequences of those two could be very different. That's why it's crucial to eliminate all the guesswork possible and find objective evidence of what really happened.

Of course, finding that evidence and using to help the people affected may not be as simple as waiting for a police report. Law enforcement's only looking for broken laws, not necessarily for the facts to help victims and families build a case or get back on their feet. That's why I often recommend enlisting the help of independent experts to find the truth. Armed with the facts those professionals uncover, truck accident victims and their loved ones stand a better chance of seeing justice done and getting back on track.
