Commentary on Christopher Frierson, William Scheible Car Accident in Dallas

If the details here are accurate, then some folks may be quick to jump to conclusions. Early in the morning, a driver suddenly veering out of control is often a sign alcohol was involved. This can be crucial to look into for several reasons, a little-discussed one being that it's possible a local alcohol provider over-served that driver and is liable for the resulting injuries under dram shop law.
But to make these assumptions without proper investigations would be outright irresponsible. Likely or not, there could be other factors at play. Were there mechanical issues? Road hazards? A tire defect? Some other reckless driver that left the scene? Did the driver have a medical issue? If authorities aren't being equally thorough looking into these possible factors, then the crash may be better off in the hands of more experienced independent investigators.
