Commentary on Darian Casias Car Accident in Amarillo

To be clear up front, there is no confirmation that alcohol was a factor here. It's something police always look into when a crash involves someone driving the wrong direction. A proper investigation should also consider things like medical conditions, fatigue, poor or lack of lighting an signage, or just an inexplicable mistake.

Now, if alcohol was a factor, of course, it could mean some local business contributed to this accident. Folks on the wrong way of an interstate were often illegally over-served by a local bar, which is illegal in Texas. Victims and families could then confront that bar under dram shop law to hold them accountable and to get the help they need.

One way or another, experience makes me skeptical authorities are getting the full story here. Instead of jumping to conclusions, it'd likely be best if folks waited for all the facts to come to light.
