Commentary on Head-On Crash on West Grayson near Grayson

It sounds from reports like an ill-timed passing maneuver may be largely to blame for the terrible damage done in this crash. Some may feel that's all there is to know, but as always I would suggest a little patience and caution in case something besides the obvious was involved. It's important to confirm that police interpreted the preliminary details right. For instance: What if the victim wasn't trying to pass but instead just lost traction and veered into the oncoming lane? What if they had a sudden medical emergency that took their control away? Could their vehicle have malfunctioned or blown a tire?

The point of asking further detail-oriented questions and exploring all the possibilities isn't so things can get overcomplicated or a convenient "bad guy" can be found. The simplest explanation may yet prove to be the right one. It's just important to keep an open mind and ensure that the final story is based solely on nothing but facts and evidence. At the very least that ensures there's no dispute or confusion over what happened, but sometimes it also uncovers other issues that must be addressed--like ensuring the right parties are held accountable.

The first priority is to learn the truth of this tragedy; any further action would depend on what that truth turns out to be.
