Commentary on Damien Rojas Accident in Fort Worth
On this blog I have long advocated for independent experts to look again at single-vehicle crashes and make sure no unusual or subtle details escaped notice. People tend to focus mostly (or exclusively) on the most common potential causes for a wreck like this--particularly driver mistakes, like falling asleep or texting instead of watching the road. When these accidents happen late at night, that often means intoxication--which would have its own unique complications--is also often mentioned as a theory.
In many cases theories like those are eventually confirmed by police, but they still can't be taken for granted before all the facts are available. I've seen many instances where police overlooked something critical and their reports were (at best) incomplete or (at worst) entirely wrong. It's important that every possible explanation be evaluated to ensure the truth is learned; if police don't plan to invest the time or care to get the whole story perhaps someone else should step in to fill in the rest of the blanks.
