Jamar McGriff Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident in New Castle, DE

New Castle, DE -- September 21, 2022, Jamar McGriff was killed following an accident where McGriff's vehicle hit an illegally parked semi.

Initial details given by authorities indicated that the incident took place at around 1:30 a.m. along Route 40 south of Wilmington.

It appears 28-year-old Jamar McGriff was in a Saturn traveling eastbound on Route 40 near Wilton Boulevard. Ahead, police say that a tractor-trailer was parked on the shoulder without any warning signals. McGriff's vehicle then somehow crashed into the back of the semi.

McGriff sustained fatal injuries in the crash. No other injuries were reported. Police say they issued citations for the truck driver leaving an unattended vehicle without hazard triangles.

If the details given here are accurate, this is a common issue with a lot of truckers out there that I don't think gets enough attention. There are plenty of truck drivers who go to great lengths to pull safely off the road and mark their vehicles so they're clearly visible just as the law requires from them. Other drivers, however, couldn't care less about the safety of others. Understanding these laws, how often drivers ignore them, and what can be done when those actions cause harm to people is why I have articles like the one below. Hopefully actions are taken here to ensure the victim's loved ones are at least getting the answers they deserve.
