Commentary on Zakarie Ross Single-Vehicle Accident in Morris County

When folks see any mention of alcohol, they tend immediately assume the driver was being reckless. But authorities also brought up the possibility of fatigue. In my experience, statements like that tend to be speculation while authorities don't yet know all the facts. Fatigue and alcohol are common factors, so it's only natural they'd come up in the investigations.

They are certainly important to consider, especially since alcohol can involve a negligent alcohol provider illegally over-serving the victim and being responsible for contributing to their death. With that said, there are plenty of other factors worth attention regardless of how common they are. Several of those possibilities involve circumstances completely beyond a driver's control.

So before folks start jumping to all kinds of conclusions, it would be prudent to understand what all a prudent investigation actually looks into.
