Commentary on Hector Segura Rangel Car Accident in Fort Worth

With details like this, it's easy for folks to jump to all kinds of conclusions. But a priority must always be what can be done for the victim's loved ones. To that end, I want to address the possibility that alcohol contributed to this crash.

If it's true that alcohol was a factor here, that almost always warrants consideration into where the alcohol came from. This is due to dram shop law, which says that an alcohol provider such as a bar who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Not only does this provide a vital source of assistance for families, it also helps to ensure those negligent businesses clean up their act so other families don't suffer similar tragedies.

With all that said, this is only if alcohol was even what led to this crash. One reason thorough independent accident reconstructions are so important is because authorities often overlook other possible contributing factors. Did authorities get clear answers here, or is there more to this crash that the family deserves to know?
