Commentary on Single-Vehicle Crash on Hwy 150 near New Waverly
I have long been an advocate of ensuring that a second set of eyes look at single-vehicle crashes to make sure no unusual or subtle details went unnoticed. Public opinion tends to quickly decide a driver made mistakes that led to their injuries, and while in many cases that turns out to be true I've seen plenty of others where something out of a victim's hands sent them off the road.
Police haven't mentioned any suspicions about this wreck's cause, which I hope means they haven't jumped to any conclusions and are carefully investigating all the possible explanations. Anything from simple driver inattention to poor road conditions to a defective part in the vehicle could be responsible for the damage done, and all potential factors deserve attention. The most important thing is to find clear answers for everyone affected; anything beyond that would depend on what those answers are.
