Commentary on Semi-Truck Rollover Accident on I-80 in Gothenburg

Something that often can be confusing for those inexperienced with truck wrecks is the fact that the cause of the crash is not always the cause of the injuries. Now, I don't know anything specific about this particular crash. But whenever a truck overturned and seriously injures someone, it's worth understanding whether or not those injuries should have happened. What does that mean?

Put simply, some manufacturers continue to build trucks which cannot reasonably withstand rollovers that higher quality trucks can. In other words, drivers in those low quality trucks can be seriously injured when the truck cabin collapses where a driver in a better truck would be protected. This is an issue manufacturers can be held accountable for. So while I can't say if that happened here, it's an example of why a crash like this is often better off in the hands of independent investigators.
