Samer Samra Injured in Solo Accident on Central Expressway in Dallas, TX

Dallas, TX — August 12, 2022, 41-year-old Samer Samra was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident on Central Expressway in Dallas.

Authorities say the incident happened around 8:10 p.m. on Central Expressway (US-75) near Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway (I-635). Preliminary investigation suggests Samra was driving a Mercedes-Benz sedan south on the highway when he approached a fork. He allegedly continued straight forward as the road forked and crashed into a protected barrier in the middle of the split.

Samra suffered serious injuries in the accident. Investigators noted that he may have been intoxicated and collected blood samples for testing.

The outcome of those blood tests will hopefully shed some light on whether alcohol contributed here and if so to what degree. If it turns out the driver was intoxicated, there may also be a need to find out where his drinks came from that night. Why would that matter? Because under Texas dram shop law a business that over-served him might be legally responsible for his injuries.

With that said, alcohol is only one theory of many at this point. As they wait to see what the blood tests say police shouldn't neglect other possible explanations. The driver could simply have lost control on a wet roadway or the car could have malfunctioned, just to name a couple. There are plenty of reasons a crash like this could happen besides alcohol, and they all deserve careful consideration. The most important thing is to learn the whole story; any action beyond that would depend on what that story turns out to be.
