One Killed, Two Injured in Crash on I-35E at Walnut Hill in Dallas, TX
Dallas, TX — September 15, 2022, one person died in a collision between a pickup truck and a sedan on Interstate 35E in northwest Dallas.
Authorities say the incident happened around 1:45 a.m. on I-35E (Stemmons Freeway) at Walnut Hill Lane. Preliminary investigation suggests a Toyota Camry and a Dodge Ram 3500 were southbound on the highway when the car hit the back-left quarter of the pickup for unknown reasons.
The impact caused the truck driver to lose control; the pickup overturned and rolled off the highway before coming to rest on its roof in the grass beyond.
A passenger in the truck was fatally injured. Both vehicles' drivers were taken in stable condition to an area hospital.

Commentary on Fatal Auto Accident on I-35E in Dallas
Nobody can say just yet exactly how or why this accident happened, and in the absence of clear details it's best not to jump to any conclusions. Comment sections tend to fill up with guesses blaming anything and everything, from driver mistakes like distraction or intoxication to blown tires and bad roads, but only careful and thorough investigation can really shed more light on the matter.
Here's my concern: Over the years I've found that law enforcement has different thoughts than I about what constitutes "careful and thorough." I've seen many cases where they focused only on the most common possibilities and never widened their search, then either gave up or came to the wrong conclusions. Obviously neither is good for victims and families seeking real answers and help in the wake of these terrible crashes. That's why I often recommend that independent experts get involved and fill in any remaining blanks to tell the whole story. The people affected by an accident like this deserve no less.
