Two Dead, One Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15 in Victorville, CA

Victorville, CA — September 12, 2022, two people died and another was injured in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 15 in Victorville.

Authorities say the incident happened around 4:55 a.m. on I-15 between Main Street and Bear Valley Road. Preliminary investigation suggests only that two tractor-trailers, a van, and a work vehicle somehow became involved in a pileup accident.

Two people in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was airlifted to an area hospital.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information is currently available.

Commentary on Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15 in Victorville

There isn't a lot of clear information yet about how exactly this crash happened or what caused it, but considering its tragic aftermath a careful investigation is obviously in order.

To find the clear facts that tell the whole story police should look into many possible factors including:

  • Operator errors like distraction, speeding, or failure to yield;
  • Problems or defects in the vehicles involved;
  • Road conditions and design;
  • Visibility, lighting and sightlines;
  • Inclement weather; and
  • Traffic patterns in the area.

Checking all those potential issues and others is important, and until more dots are connected it's best not to assume what picture they'll make. Of course a "by-the-book" police investigation might not complete that picture before wrapping up, depending on whether they have the time and resources to really get to the bottom of things.

Two Dead, One Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15 in Victorville, CA

After major accidents--particularly ones involving commercial trucks and/or multi-vehicle pileups, to say nothing of both--I often suggest independent investigations by experienced professionals to better ensure the whole truth is found. Whatever is learned, those affected deserve to know that no stone was left unturned to find answers.
