Commentary on Angela Oxley, William Oxley Car Accident in Wylie

Something that stands out in a report like this is the condition of the most seriously injured victim relative to others involved in the crash. That person was said to be in the passenger side opposite where the impact occurred. Typically, that would make the driver more seriously injured. So what was different here? It can certainly be just dumb luck, and it can sometimes be things like not wearing a seatbelt. Sometimes, though, it's a sign that a safety feature didn't work properly.

Did the seatbelts lock and stay latched? Did the airbags go off, including potential side airbags? Did the victim's seat remain structurally sound, keeping them upright? I know this all may sound a bit like digging in the weeds, but these defects are more common than folks may realize. If authorities aren't considering all possible contributing factors here, then the crash may be better off in the hands of professionals who will ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
