El Paso, TX — September 12, 2022, 23-year-old Bianca Center died in a traffic collision on Gateway North Boulevard in El Paso.

Authorities say the incident happened around 6:15 a.m. on Gateway North at Stan Roberts Avenue. Preliminary investigation suggests 71-year-old Juvenal Delgado was driving a Chevy Silverado east on Stan Roberts when he allegedly entered Gateway North when unsafe. As the pickup passed through the crossing it crashed with Center's Jeep Wrangler. The impact caused the Jeep to overturn.

Center was ejected during the rollover and suffered fatal injuries. It is unclear if Juvenal Delgado or his passenger Imelda Delgado were injured.

Commentary on Bianca Center Accident in El Paso

Reports don't really say exactly why one driver failed to yield at the intersection. Investigators could find it really just boils down to a momentary lapse in concentration or attention, but as always it's best not to jump to any conclusions and instead to take a close look.

Some potential explanations might not be too obvious without further scrutiny. Vehicle failures or defects, wet or hazardous roads, missing or unclear signage, and many other issues--unlikely as they may be when compared to common factors like inattention--must still be accounted for to ensure only the facts tell the story. Will police be thorough enough to get those facts, or would a second look from independent investigators better ensure the full story is known?
