Commentary on Francisco Allen, Jacinta Rosa Sanchez, Robert Pennington Truck Accident in Nottoway County
Something that seems unending is the constant battle against people jumping to conclusions. They tend to see a crash like this, put everything down to right-of-way, and move on without a second thought. The reality is all kinds of unusual factors can lead to a tragedy like this. Without proper investigations, the victims and families involved may not get the answers they deserve.

I recall a crash from not too long ago which I was looking into where the public details didn't at all match what really happened. The initial reports said a man ran a stop sign, and a truck hit and killed him. Weeks later, however, more thorough independent investigations revealed there wasn't even a stop sign. A construction crew removed it while working, but they forgot to replace it when they left. So how exactly could the victim have run a stop sign?
I'm not trying to say that happened here, of course. My point is simply that we can't say what happened by just reading a few paragraphs days after the awful event occurred. News reporters miss details. Police make mistakes. Unusual factors can lead to crashes. Whether or not anything like that happened here, there should always be steps taken to ensure all the facts are clear before anyone starts trying to draw conclusions.
