Commentary on Austin Motorcycle Accident on I-35

It always seems like the news out of Austin is always the most sparse when it comes to details. It could simply be that authorities down that way play things closer to the vest, or maybe news outlets in Austin just don't want to spend much energy reporting on crashes. Whatever the reason may be, it's concerning that so few details are available. Why? Plenty of reasons, but two that come to mind quickly are a) that motorcyclists tend to get a bad rap and are sometimes prematurely blamed for wrecks they didn't cause, and b) just about every accident should be carefully and comprehensively investigated. The answers turned up during such an investigation are often critical to getting the victims the help they need.

To be clear, I'm not coming down on investigators for not having the whole thing sorted just one day after it happened. I'm only concerned that this crash, like many in Austin, may never be clarified. Will police put in the time and effort to make sense of it, or would the injured victims be better served by independent efforts?
