One Killed in Semi-Trailer Overturn Accident on Cage Blvd in Pharr, TX

Pharr, TX — September 6, 2022, a man died after a truck trailer fell on top of him near Penske Truck Leasing on Cage Boulevard in Pharr.

Authorities say the incident happened around 9:35 a.m. at or close to the Penske location at 4001 North Cage Blvd. Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was working on a truck trailer's alleged "faulty airbag" when the trailer overturned, pinning him between it and the fifth axle.

The man suffered fatal injuries in the accident.

Penske later released a statement indicating the victim was not an employee and no Penske equipment was involved in the accident.

No further information is currently available.

Commentary on Trailer Accident on Cage Blvd in Pharr

Preliminary reports about this matter got things a bit twisted around and claimed the victim was a Penske employee working on a Penske truck. The company put a stop to that misunderstanding as quickly as they could, but mixups like that are why I'm constantly recommending patience and an open mind as the basics are worked out.

Whether the victim was a Penske employee or not, though, it sounds a lot like he was killed on the job as he tried to repair something wrong with his truck's trailer. Reports say it was a faulty airbag that had his attention when the trailer tipped onto him, but as yet nobody can really say why the trailer overturned. Did it malfunction? Was it defective? Obviously that's important to work out, with no room for misunderstandings.

Unfortunately police investigators don't always have the training or tools to get to the bottom of whether a malfunction or defect was the true culprit of an accident. Because they may not have the wherewithal to find the truth and hold the right parties accountable, it may be best if independent experts take a look.
