Two Killed in Rollover Crash off FM 1765 in La Marque, TX

La Marque, TX — September 3, 2022, two people in a pickup truck died when it allegedly lost control on wet roads and crashed in a La Marque parking lot.

Authorities say the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Farm to Market Road 1765. Preliminary investigation suggests the truck was headed west on the roadway at alleged high speeds when the driver lost control, possibly due to the road's slippery surface. The truck sideswiped another vehicle, then swerved into a Jack in the Box parking lot and rolled over into a dumpster structure.

Both the truck's occupants died in the crash.

Commentary on Rollover Accident on FM 1765 in La Marque

Investigators seem to think high speeds on wet roads was the primary reason for this crash. I have no reason to doubt that, but at the same time I wonder if they really evaluated all the other possibilities before concluding that. Other potential factors should also be considered--not just about what caused the crash, but also about the proximate cause of the victims' injuries. The two aren't always the same, which often surprises people.

Unfortunately police investigators don't always have the time, tools, or training to make that distinction or look for factors beyond the most common, which means their reports can sometimes be incomplete or even flat-out wrong. It's always best to have the facts straight, and sometimes that means getting independent investigators to have another look. Click the image below to learn more.
