Commentary on Truck Accident on Hwy 530 in Arlington
Frankly speaking, a truck most often plows into other vehicles like this one supposedly did when the driver did something wrong--had his eyes on a phone, for example, or traveled too fast for conditions.
Having said that, operator error isn't the only explanation. It's important to consider other possibilities as well, like whether hazardous roads or some kind of mechanical failure/defect kept the truck from stopping before the collision. Issues like that have to get due consideration--not just to find the truth and avoid unfairly accusing anyone, but also because having clear evidence of what really happened is generally crucial to holding the right parties accountable.
Even if investigators believe the striking truck driver is to blame (as reports suggest), believing it and proving it are different things. Police aren't at the scene to find the proof needed to help the injured victim; their job is to look for signs of broken laws and issue punishment accordingly. In the meantime, trucking companies will spring into action to prepare defenses and dispute responsibility for a victim's injuries, so important for anyone seeking help to be ready.
