Commentary on Kathrine Gipson Dickens Semi-Truck Accident in Gladewater

When it comes to a crash like this, it's easy for people to jump to conclusions. But there should always be a thorough investigation to make sure a victim's loved ones are getting the full story. That's especially true when someone isn't around to tell their side of things.

Kathrine Gipson Dickens Killed in Semi-Truck Accident in Gladewater, TX

I recall a crash a while back, for example, where police said a woman ran a red light, and an 18-wheeler hit her. As open-and-shut as that seemed, there were extenuating circumstances that came to light weeks later. Apparently, the 18-wheeler had been going about 20 MPH over the speed limit. While that wouldn't excuse someone for running a red light, it can certainly result in an otherwise survivable crash turning fatal.

I'm not trying to say any of that happened here or even that the two crashes are similar. My point is that folks can be quick to take initial details as gospel when there could be far more complex details just beneath the surface. If authorities aren't digging for those details, then the crash would likely be better off in the hands of more experienced independent investigators.
