Commentary on Tractor-Trailer Accident on Highway 62/82 in Lubbock County

There's a detail that stands out here, but it's important to clarify it. Reports say trucks "stopped" on the highway while visibility was poor. Did they stop due to traffic? Were they actually just moving slowly? Or, did one or both of these trucks recklessly stop in the middle of the highway?

It is true that visibility can become very poor during a storm. But reasonably prudent professionals would know when and how to safely pull off to where they are not putting others at risk. Maybe circumstances were such that those precautions simply weren't possible, but I wouldn't suggest anything other than immediate and thorough investigations into these events. As tempted as folks may be to just blame this on the weather, the more likely explanation is that the trucks or the vehicles that hit them did something wrong.
