Anthony Richard Vasquez Injured in 18-wheeler Accident in Ennis, TX

Ennis, TX -- August 11, 2022, Anthony Richard Vasquez was injured due to an accident where a vehicle and an 18-wheeler crashed.

Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 1:30 a.m. along Ennis Avenue/US 287.

According to officials, a vehicle was driving into oncoming lanes when it crashed with a westbound 18-wheeler. Due to the crash, 28-year-old Anthony Richard Vasquez sustained incapacitating injuries. No other injuries were reported.

At this time, police say they're looking into intoxication as a possible factor.

No particular cause for the crash has been confirmed yet, but it's not surprising to see police mention the possibility of alcohol. Frankly, it's an all too common reason for wrong-way collisions. That's what makes it so important in these situations to consider things like dram shop law, which can involve local bars illegally over-serving someone to the point they didn't know which way they were driving.

But as likely as that is, it wouldn't be right to overlook other possibilities just because they're less likely.
