Commentary on Miguel Angel Galvan Car Accident in North Richland Hills

While the cause of this crash may seem straight forward, determining the cause of the victim's injuries may prove to be a bit more complex. The reason I say this is the victim seemed to be significantly injured while the other driver was apparently unharmed.

Perhaps this was a high speed collision, but this wasn't an interstate or a highway. This was just a normal city street. At those speeds, a modern vehicle with working airbags and seatbelts should provide enough protection that someone isn't seriously hurt. So what was different here?

There are certainly reasonable possible explanations, but the concern is there might have been an issue with the safety features of the victim's car. If something malfunctioned or didn't perform as well as it should, that's a serious problem manufacturers can be on the hook for. Considering that's not the sort of thing authorities tend to look into, have steps been taken to get answers here?
