Commentary on Isiah Anthony Willis Car Accident in Austin

At a certain speed, it's understandable that a rear-end collision might cause serious injuries. But in more modern vehicles, there are a lot of things designed to lessen the severity of the impact. That's why it's important after a crash like this to find out if the injuries were reasonable. If the average driver would have been more or less fine, it's possible the injuries were more the result of a defect.

For example, I've been taking steps to spread the word about an issue that doesn't get very much attention: Seatback failures. The seat assembly plays a crucial role in keeping a victim stable and upright during a crash in combination with the seatbelt and the airbag. However, some seats simply don't live up to a modern standard of safety, meaning they can fail too easily and therefore fail to protect occupants from avoidable injuries.

I'm not saying that's common or that it happened here, but understanding the possibility of defects and the challenge of investigating them can be crucial for victims and families in need.
