Commentary on Tomato Truck Accident on I-80 near Vacaville

It sounds from reports like the majority of the damage done came after the initial crash and overturn of the tomato-hauling truck. As police try to connect the dots of the incident, hopefully they'll spend some time working out exactly why the truck tipped over among other critical details.

Unfortunately, I've learned many times over that law enforcement swoops in, gives everything a once-over, looks for anyone to charge, and after a short assessment and taking statements they fill out a report and close the book. They have a lot of competing priorities and little time to invest in carefully analyzing a non-fatal crash scene, so even though the injured victims may want answers the "official" narrative may not have many for them. That's why when people call the firm I often suggest they get help from independent accident reconstructionists who have the time and expertise to do the job right.
