Anjelika Hernandez, Teen Injured in Auto Accident on TX-242 in Montgomery County, TX

UPDATE (September 21, 2022): Authorities have identified one of the victims of this accident as 31-year-old Anjelika Hernandez.

Montgomery County, TX -- August 27, 2022, two women were injured following a suspected drunk driving accident on Highway 242.

Authorities said the incident happened late Saturday in the area of Highway 242 and FM 1314. It appears the area has been under construction. In that area, a Santa Fe was westbound and somehow went into oncoming lanes. There, the car crashed with a Toyota Corolla.

A woman and a teen in the Corolla were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Police say they found alcohol at the scene and suspect the Santa Fe driver of being intoxicated. This and other details cannot be confirmed at this time.

This appears to be one of two similar accidents in this area in less than 24 hours. The reality is drunk driving is a big problem all across the state. If it's true that's what led to this crash, it's important to understand what that means for the victims and families. It's not always as simple as charging the driver and holding them liable. There can often be a local alcohol provider also responsible for the crash.

In Texas, bars and similar establishments can be on the hook for illegally over-serving someone whose intoxication then leads to an accident.
