Commentary on School Bus, Truck Accident on Highway 62/82 in Terry County
A crash involving two commercial vehicles is serious enough, but one possible involving alcohol is only going to prove more complex. It's a miracle no one was more seriously hurt and that no kids were involved. But that doesn't make this situation any less serious.
The fact that either someone hauling 40 tons or someone in charge of safely transporting kids may have been under the influence warrants absolutely thorough investigations into what exactly happened here. Not only would that driver need to be held appropriately accountable, there might also complex legal avenues for getting folks the help they deserve.
Leaving something like this in the hands of police alone is only going to risk important information slipping through the cracks. If nothing else, a crash this serious needs an independent investigation to make sure those involved are getting all the facts.
