Commentary on Mary Dolfin, Adam Reynoso Car Accident in Dallas

It's not my place to confirm or deny what these reports say, but any mention of alcohol is important to consider. It can result in a complex legal process for the victims and families involved, and understanding those obstacles and how to overcome them can be vital. For that reason, I always try to inform people about dram shop law.

In Texas, dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Bars, liquor stores, restaurants, and even gas stations need to take responsibility when their actions get people hurt. Otherwise, they can just continuing benefiting from the carnage their negligent (not to mention illegal) actions contribute to.

Again, it's not for me to say if that happened here. But something I learned throughout my career is that if authorities aren't looking into important possible factors like dram shop, the investigations need to be in the hands of professionals who will.
