Desoto Man Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on I-20 in Lancaster, TX

Lancaster, TX -- June 13, 2022, a Desoto man was killed in , due to an accident where a commercial truck crashed along I-20.

Investigators said that the crash took place at around 1:00 p.m. along I-20 near Houston School Road.

Officials said that a 42-year-old Desoto man was in a Peterbilt truck traveling westbound along I-20. Somehow, the truck veered to the side and crashed on the median where it then overturned.

The Desoto man sustained incapacitating injuries due to the crash. No further information about the crash is available at this time.

When it comes to rollovers like this, something I rarely see police talk about is the condition of the truck. These crashes can certainly be serious, so equally serious injuries isn't surprising. But over the years, there have been similar crashes where better quality trucks would have held up under the rollover, and the drivers would have been more or less fine. A lot of trucks, however, are made poorly without keeping the safety of truckers in mind. As a result, they end up seriously hurt or killed because the cabin folds in too easily. Is that something that's being looked into here?
