Commentary on Jamshed Ergashev, Steven Crane Truck Accident in Dauphin County

A crash like this can be a decent example of why jumping to conclusions can be so harmful. The reports say one truck rear-ended the other as it was merging from a rest area. A lot of people may see that and just assume the rear driver was doing something wrong like speeding or looking at their phone. That's certainly common, but it's a misconception that rear drivers are automatically at fault.

These reports also say that the truck was merging from the rest area going under the speed limit. Depending on the timing of the events, evidence could actually show that the front truck cut off the rear truck. Is that something authorities are looking into here?

I certainly can't say who or what caused this crash. My point is simply that people should wait for all the facts to come to light before they start blaming people. Getting people the help they need should be the priority.
