If it's true that alcohol was a factor here, it wouldn't be surprising to see that driver face consequences. But is there an accomplice out there yet to answer for their own role in the victim's injuries? Authorities rarely talk about this, but alcohol providers can be liable for crashes like the one described here. That's why it's important there are thorough investigations into that possibility.

Put simply, Texas dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Bars, liquor stores, restaurants, and even gas stations have rules to follow. When they break those rules, and people get hurt, why wouldn't they be held accountable for that?

Dram shop provides an opportunity for victims and families both to get some much needed help and to hold a negligent business accountable for harming their community. So while it's unclear if anything like that happened here, there's more than enough reason to find out for sure.
