Commentary on Car Accident at Sherwood and Johnson

On paper this looks like a pretty standard crash. A driver ran a red light and hit another vehicle; that (unfortunately) happens all the time, so what else is there to know?

It could be that what we see in the news is really all there is to say, but long years in this business have taught me that news sources and the police that feed them information for these reports don't always have the whole story. Based on what they say now it's probably tempting to just blame the pickup driver for being reckless and move on, but what if there's more to the story? Will police even check if there were extenuating circumstances, or are they satisfied just ticketing someone and moving on?

Little as I like saying it, police aren't always as thorough as is warranted to learn the whole story after a wreck. That can be detrimental to crash victims as they seek help getting back on their feet. Click below to learn more.
