Commentary on Fatal Truck Accident on I-20 in Dallas

Generally speaking, a driver somehow failing to avoid a commercial truck on the shoulder during daylight hours is pretty concerning. But reports like these rarely tell the whole story. For all we know, there were visibility issues, the victim had a medical emergency, the truck was protruding into traffic lanes, some other reckless driver that left the scene caused the crash, or any number of other possible factors.

While folks may think that would come out in due time from police investigations, experience taught me their reports aren't nearly reliable enough for victims and families. It's important to understand why independent investigations are so important after a deadly truck wreck, and the same could prove true here, as well.
