Itzel Martinez Velazquez, 2 Injured in Car Accident in Guadalupe County, TX

Guadalupe County, TX -- July 31, 2022, Itzel Martinez Velazquez and two others were injured after an accident where two vehicles crashed.

According to officials, the crash happened at around 8:22 p.m. along I-10 at the intersection of Schwarzlose Road.

Officials said that a Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on the I-10 access road. At FM Schwarzlose, police say that the Ford went through a stop sign, following which it crashed with an eastbound Ford F-350.

20-year-old Itzel Martinez Velasquez was a passenger in the F-150 and reportedly had incapacitating injuries. The driver of the F-150 and a passenger in the other truck reportedly had non-incapacitating injuries.

Right now, authorities said alcohol is a possible factors. This was not confirmed.

It's possible investigations would show alcohol wasn't a factor here. I certainly won't be jumping to conclusions. But whenever alcohol is a factor, it's important to find out where the alcohol came from. This is due to dram shop law, which says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Getting folks the help they need and holding a negligent business accountable are both noble priorities.
