Commentary on Jonathan Alexis Moreno Escobedo Truck Accident in Lee County

When it comes to tire blowouts, it's far too easy for folks to just assume it was all an unavoidable accident. That's obviously possible, considering how common it is for something in the road to puncture the tire. But there are two other possibilities worth considering.

The other more common possibility is poor maintenance. Unfortunately, some drivers work for companies that neglect maintenance, preferring to put their employees at risk rather than shill out the dough for a fresh set of tires. Could it be something like that happened here?

The other possibility, though relatively unlikely, is a defective tire. If the truck driver had every reason to believe his tires were in good condition, a failure could be the result of poor manufacturing. That's something manufacturers need to be held accountable for, especially considering the possibility other drivers are at risk.

Common or not, it's important to get all the facts after a truck wreck like this. Experience tells me it would likely take a lot more than a simple crash report to ensure nothing important slipped through the cracks.
